When rains hits the Silverstone Circuit, a masterclass of wet weather driving is expected from Lewis Hamilton. This weekend was no exception with him taking a win, his first since that fateful night at the 2021 F1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Race Progression
The Mercedes duo starts on the front row, but George Russell, the pole sitter, retires while Lewis Hamilton goes onto win the race. The excellent tire management skills of Lewis allows him to nurse the softs all the way to the end on his last stint. The wet weather shakes up the order when pits are made and for some reason, Sergio Perez pits more times than any other drivers and obviously has a horrible weekend. Nico Hulkenberg keeps putting in excellent performances.
F1 Championship Standings
McLaren looks poised to take 2nd in the F1 Constructors Championship from Ferrari. Max Verstappen’s lead in the drivers championship seems to be insurmountable. Another strong weekend for Haas with a P6 finish for Nico Hulkenberg. Sergio Perez shocking form continues with both Mercedes drivers breathing down his neck in the drivers championship. Could Nico Hulkenberg or Daniel Ricciardo replace Sergio Perez mid season.
